| Chewing pollution is everywhere. Look around - it's on your streets, randomly placed on pieces of furniture, pretty much anywhere in any public area. |
Chewing gum has been a part of American culture since the mid 1800s. Gum has many benefits ranging from oral health care to brain stimulation. Even though chewing gum has been around for centuries, there is still one major problem with is - knowing how to dispose of it. The black blobs on the street and sidewalks, ruined shoes and clothing are proof there needs to be a change.
Going Green is major player in what influences consumer behavior. Although recycling has increased dramatically in the last 5 years and the rise in recycling/trash bins across our neighborhoods is noticeable, the overall trash output has remained the same. The more access to recycling/trash bins the less street pollution and litter.
WraperZ offers a solution for gum lovers to wrap their chewed gum in a small piece of recycled paper and then toss it away into a trash bin instead of spitting it out on to the street.
eHow health posted the following article " Environmental Consequences of the Production of Chewing Gum" describing what effect gum litter has on our environment and small animals.
What can you do to join the Go Green efforts?
Well, let's start with putting a stop to gum littering. Research and experience have shown that litter is the result of individual behavior. It’s “not my responsibility”. Some of us feel no sense of ownership for walkways, movie theaters, stadiums, and other public areas. Some of us believe that someone else will pick up after us. Wrong! It is our responsibility! And now is the time to step up and start thinking about the consequences of our actions. It takes just one person, one business, one organization to positively impact the behavior of others, one chew at a time.
- Before you unwrap your chewing gum, make sure you have WraperZ with you to dispose of your gum and deposit it into a trash receptacle..
- Carry WraperZ with you at all times.
- Keep WraperZ in your car, your office and your home.
- Encourage your friends to be responsible for their gum litter, too.
- Make littering "your responsibility".
